Home Again

I’m back home again and I really wish I wasn’t. How nice it will be to someday soon live on my own? Be a big girl, with a big girl job and pay some big girl bills. I got home just over an hour ago. My stint as a mother is over for a long while, unless they need another babysitter, hopefully on a nice vacation.

But does anyone know how difficult it is to turn on your computer when all you want to do is sleep? Now it’s my turn to turn into the bear as opposed to Eva. I've only lasted this long because I was drifting in and out of sleep tonight while babysitting. The children plus two cousins were all watching Mighty Ducks 3. I couldn’t believe when the cousins said they had never seen it. Like c’mon, it’s Gordon Bombay, it’s the Flying V, it’s knuckle puck time. Where were you 15 years ago? As I soon learned, he wasn’t born yet, so he had a valid reason.

But boy, do children know how to make a 23-year-0ld feel super old. The worst was in the summer when I went to a cottage with her friend and her cousins had no idea that Jennifer Lopez was a singer. They only knew of her as an actress considering J-Lo hasn’t put anything good out since The Wedding Planner. Number one movie and album I believe at the same time. They also had never seen the movie before. How? It is great. I’ve probably seen it over 20 times easily, maybe I should double that number. It’s just so funny, it’s one of the great romantic comedies.

However, tonight was quiet since all the kids were watching a movie and I had a bit of time to nap, well deserved I may add. I will receive my award for my week of motherhood soon but I also got a cool shirt from Punta Cana.

The children raved about me. “Hope’s so nice”, “Hope was so much fun”, “Go away again”, “She’s so pretty”…. children, I know, I know, I am great, please keep bragging about me. But I am exhausted and oddly very hungry. I am going to go eat, wash my face and pass right out hopefully till noon or something. Not much longer than that because I have an assignment I need to submit by midnight and I work in the evening.
