This kind of story brings can easily bring tears to my eyes. On good old St. Patty’s day, a good number of people take to the bars and pubs and fill up on green beer. But what people do when they are drunk can seriously destroy the rest of their lives.
Take Ben Taylor for example. What seems to have happened was he went out to a house party with a group of friends. He got in a physical fight with another guy. He stabbed that guy several times. That guy died. Ben is now being charged with second degree murder. Ben is only 18.
I’m not saying that all people do stupid stuff when they are drunk but c’mon people everyone has regrets from the times they’ve drunk too much. They may have fought if they were both sober, however, maybe Ben would have never pulled out a knife. Maybe friends would have intervened. Just maybe something different would have happened.
I think the article is written very nice. I enjoy it. It saddens me that a 22 year old has lost his life for no reason. But I also feel bad for Ben, an 18 year old who also just lost his life. I feel bad for his friends the article talks about. I feel bad for his mother. I just feel bad.
It doesn’t talk much about the victim at all. But in this case I think their are two victims. It was just a horrible choice he made to drink, to fight, to pull out a knife, and how quickly his life will change because of it all.

I almost wish the judge will be lenient with Ben but how it that fair? It truly isn’t. But he’s 18. I don’t know, there’s no way to justify this without trying to justify a whole lot of other cases. I would like for this accident to not destroy Ben’s life but I believe people need to be punished for their actions, and mistakes. And though killing someone was not intentionally, it still was committed.
There still is victim. His family deserves some peace in this matter. At least Ben is alive. He could potentially be out of jail before he’s 40, possibly 35 depending on how many years he gets, or plea deal.
I’m going to try and follow this story and see how it unfolds. His next court date is this Thursday.
