Win-tour hits Toronto

Last night I went to the Down With Webster (DWW) concert in Toronto at Massey Hall. Several things made the night pretty great. First off, my friend Melissa has newly acquired crutches because she broke a few bones in her toe. What does this mean for us? It means we get upgraded 8th row, center floor as opposed to our second balcony seats, probably close to the worst seats in the place, so awesome.

Secondly, during one of the opening acts, I noticed some girls taking pictures with a group of guys at the side of Massey Hall. Then I realized one of the dudes looked familiar, hello Canadian band Neverest. They sing a song titled About Us, if you haven’t heard it watch MuchMusic, they play the video all the time. So I got a photo with them. Vanessa was a bit embarrassed by me but I was a bit giddy to care.

So the opening acts were decent. I’ll probably download some of their songs, check them out online. However, for some reason some guy was wearing the ugliest poncho ever. C’mon dude, what are you wearing? It’s something my mom could totally crochet.

One thing you can definitely say about DWW is they have a ton of energy and all the people there were like die hard fans; they were waving their hands and standing the entire concert or jumping. I should have figured that’d be how it’d be. I went with a couple friends, I was familiar with some of their music and figured they’d be good live so I agreed to check them out live. I saw a special they did on MuchMusic last year, the spring break special and they were so funny. The episode was hilarious. I like that they seemed super down to earth.  But they performed well, I’ll probably download a few more of their songs I really liked. I didn’t realize they had such a strong fan base. I also didn’t know there was like 8 people in their band. They’ll let anyone in, lol. I thought there was only 6 of them ? Guess I was wrong. But I’m really glad I went, I enjoyed myself and I used to go to concerts all the time and I missed it.

So what have you learned? Bring a person with crutches to all possible concerts to get free upgrades.

Till tomorrow.
