Seriously PETA?

I can’t even believe an organization like PETA put this together. Wow. Sure, sureeee let’s make a pornographic looking ad promoting vegetarianism (um, somewhat. I think PETA’s goals are questionable here) at the expense of degrading, objectifying and sexualizing women with vegetables none the less. What porn does for the advancement of women, is what this video does also.

The kicker is they thought they were going to get this on during the Superbowl. Puh-lease PETA. What are you thinking PETA? Get a little sense here.  This ad is a bit disgusting, it made vegetables look disgusting and I never want to see this ad again AND I’m going to go cook a steak right now because this ad was so ineffective. PETA successful? Not at all.

The video is down below. I’ve found it on YouTube as per usual. But the video I’ve included here has the PETA ad being critiqued in the video. It’s somewhat humorous but gets all the points across. The host also says things that I really don’t wish to type out.

Also, I don’t have any proof to back this up at all, it’s a guess (I could do some research but I work soon). But I’m sure there are more women vegetarians then men. I make this guess because I don’t think I know one male vegetarian and I do know a few women vegetarians. So PETA if your goal was to get males to go veg cause this ad, not likely. Also, if you wanted to objectify the majority of your supporters, job well done. I don’t really know how many women are going to be in support of this ridiculous ad.

It’ll get people talking forsure. In a good way? No. Will it get people supporting? Probably not. You’re PETA for crying out loud. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals or something like that. You know what the majority of people love seeing? Animals. Play on our emotions with the use of animals. Don’t use sex and vegetables to try and get our attention.

And if so, make a nice salad or something, perhaps some nice hummus and dip, a nice vegetable stir fry. Not many people think eating a whole think of celery is appetizing? And eating a whole head of broccoli? Um, no. A sexy chef making vegetarianism look easy and yummy, while using animals to play on our emotions, much better I think. This whole paragraph is being typed out quite sarcastically if you were unaware.

This post is because I didn’t post Friday night, I was exhausted.

So till tomorrow.
